Accessibility

Introduction

Our commitment to celebrating diversity extends beyond identities. We strive to create an accessible and inclusive environment for all, including Neurodiverse and Disabled guests. Our ethos is that every individual, every story, and every expression matters. We are delighted to be accredited to the Bronze level with Attitude is Everything, and we’re well on our way to silver accreditation.

We genuinely hope you feel welcome and confident you’ll be able to come and enjoy Pride Day in whatever way that means to you.

Contact Us

We have created this page to answer common queries and questions - but we know one size doesn't fit all. We encourage you to reach out and talk to us if you have any questions or if you have any accessibility needs that you would like to let us know about before Pride Day. Please email our Venues & HSE Manager Sean Bulley (he/him) at accessibility@prideinglos.org.uk. We encourage you to include as much information as possible, including how best we can contact you. We’re happy to email, SMS, phone, or use WhatsApp.

We aim to reply to all messages within five working days.

Pride in Gloucestershire 2024 Accessibility

Event Facilities

We're aware that knowing the facilities available at each site is important, so we've included the details of what's on offer below.

Toilets

Toilet accessibility is a priority for us at Pride in Gloucestershire. We have two main blocks of toilets located at the north and south ends of the site. Each block houses eight standard portable event toilets and one accessible/baby change portable event toilet, equipped with a wider access door and a larger space inside.

Additionally, we're pleased to offer a dedicated ReviLOO. This facility provides an inclusive restroom experience, with a toilet that includes a changing space and a hoist. We aim to ensure that every attendee has convenient access to comfortable and appropriate restroom facilities, regardless of their needs or abilities.

There is no shower facility onsite.

Parking

We understand the importance of convenient parking, especially for our attendees who require closer proximity or additional space. That's why we are pleased to offer on-site parking for Blue Badge holders. Parking on-site is limited and available only to those who have essential access requirements. To ensure that we can accommodate everyone appropriately, we ask that these spaces are booked in advance by contacting us. By doing so, we can provide a seamless arrival experience that caters to your needs, letting you focus on enjoying the festivities of Pride Day.

Medical & Welfare Services

First Aid capability is provisioned on-site by our medical contractor, 365 Medical Services. There will be both a first-aid station set up near the main entrance to the park in addition to roaming first-aiders that will be able to support in any medical incidents. If for any reason you require assistance during the event, please let any member of staff or security know, and we can arrange support for you.

If you need a fridge to store medication, we may be able to arrange this for you. Please contact us in advance so we can ensure we have the space and staff allocated to facilitate this request.

Sensory Zone

Located in the quietest part of the park and away from the main stages, the zone is perfect for escaping from the hustle and bustle of Pride and escaping to somewhere a bit calmer. The zone has lower lighting levels and is equipped with comfortable seating, beanbags, sunglasses, ear protectors, fidget cubes, and other sensory items.

Snacks and soft drinks are welcome within the zone, but it is strictly non-smoking and alcohol-free.

Support for Assistance Dogs

All dogs (especially including assistance dogs) are welcome to join the Pride Day.

We always make sure to offer plenty of filled water bowls and waste bins around the park. If you require a dog waste bag, please ask any of our volunteers or visit the Information marquee.

Access for d/Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Attendees

We are committed to ensuring that our event is accessible to everyone, including d/Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing attendees. Throughout the site, information will be available in visual formats, such as our display screen on the main stage, which will provide key details and zone information for the day.

The Speaker's Corner stage is equipped with equipment to transmit stage audio to hearing loops.

BSL interpretation will not be available at Pride in Gloucestershire 2024.

Access for Visually Impaired Attendees

Large print materials, including programmes, can be requested at the Pride Information & Accessibility tent to assist visually impaired attendees.

Access for Wheelchair Users

In front of the main stage, there will be a reserved accessible viewing zone to ensure a comfortable experience for wheelchair users.

Our site features a hard-standing path that circles the park's perimeter, providing a more navigable route for wheelchair users. Please note that this path occasionally extends beyond the fenced-off areas of the park, requiring you to exit and re-enter the site at designated points.

While this perimeter pathway is accessible, it may not be the most direct route across the park. The straightest route from one end to the other involves crossing the grass, but the hard-standing path balances ease of use and distance.

The event site is primarily on grass, and there are no hard-standing paths within the main event areas. We have made efforts to minimise the distance between the perimeter path and key event zones, but due to the park's layout, some travel over grass will be necessary.

Dietary Requirements and Food Accessibility

Our food vendors will offer a mix of dietary choices, including vegetarian and vegan options, to accommodate different lifestyles and preferences. Whether you're looking for plant-based meals, gluten-free alternatives, or allergy-friendly dishes, you'll find something that suits your needs.

Each food stall will have clear signage indicating the dietary options available, and our vendors are more than happy to answer any questions you may have about ingredients or preparation methods. If you have specific dietary concerns, please don't hesitate to speak with the vendors or visit the Information & Accessibility tent for assistance.
