March Route

The March begins with a gathering in the courtyard of Gloucester Cathedral, where we'll meet and get ready. Of course, there will be plenty of music and entertainment while we gather!


The route is fully guided and will take: Gloucester Cathedral -> Westgate Street -> The Cross ->Southgate Street -> Kimbrose Triangle -> Southgate Street-> Spa Road -> Brunswick Road  -> Park Road -> Gloucester Park

  • Is the Pride march route accessible for people with mobility issues?

    Yes, the Pride march route is designed to be accessible for people with mobility issues. The route is mostly flat and on paved roads, and we’ve ensured that it is suitable for wheelchairs, mobility scooters, and other assistive devices.

  • Will there be accessible toilets available during the march?

    Unfortunately, there will not be accessible restrooms directly along the march route. However, the route starts in the city centre where public toilets are available. Once you arrive at the Pride Event Site, there will be a ReviLOO changing places toilet and accessible event toilets available for use.

  • What support is available for participants with disabilities?

    We will have volunteers and stewards along the route who can provide assistance if needed. If you require specific support, such as help with navigating the route or any other questions, please contact us in advance so we can make arrangements to meet your needs.


  • Are there any provisions for participants with sensory sensitivities?

    We understand that the march can be a loud and crowded environment. You are free to leave the route at any point if you need a break, and can re-join us later in the route or at the main event. We also encourage participants to bring noise-canceling headphones or other sensory aids if needed.


  • Is there accessible parking available for the Pride march?

    No, there is no designated accessible parking at the start of the march route. However, there is accessible parking available at the Pride in Gloucestershire Event Site, and public parking with accessible spaces is available in the city centre. To reserve a parking space at the event site, please contact us in advance.

  • How can I request additional accessibility information?

    If you have specific accessibility needs not covered by this FAQ, please contact us in advance and we will be happy to help offer any information.

  • When and where is the Pride march taking place?

    The march will leave Gloucester Cathedral at ~11:15am, so we encourage you to gather from 10:30am.


    The march takes ~30-45 minutes from departing to arriving at Pride in Gloucestershire in Gloucester Park.


    If you're running late, you can join the march at any point along the route.

  • Is the Pride march free to attend?

    For most people the pride march is free to attend, however we do encourage donations to help cover the costs of the event and support our ongoing work.


    If you are:

    • A member of the public: entry is FREE and you do not need to register - just show up on the day
    • A commmunity group, charity, or LGBTQ+ group: entry is FREE but we do ask you register online beforehand.
    • A commercial organisation: entry is £50 if your annual turnover is <£500k and £100 if >£500k. You will need to register online beforehand.

    Bonus question: why do you charge for commercial organisations to join? Answer: Pride in Gloucestershire is a non-profit organisation, and part of our fundraising year round goes towards the cost of security, road closures, and delivery of the pride march. As an organisation attending we ask for a nominal fee to help cover some of these costs!

  • Do I need to register to participate in the Pride march?

    If you are:

    • A member of the public:  you do not need to register - just show up on the day
    • A commmunity group, charity, or LGBTQ+ group: You will need to register online beforehand.
    • A commercial organisation: You will need to register online beforehand.
  • Who can participate in the Pride march?

    Everyone is welcome to participate in the Pride march! Whether you identify as LGBTQ+ or as an ally, we encourage you to join us in showing support and solidarity. There are no age restrictions, so bring your family and friends.

  • Can I bring my children to the Pride march?

    Absolutely! The Pride march is a family-friendly event. We encourage families to attend together and show support for the LGBTQ+ community. There will be activities and entertainment at the main event suitable for all ages.


    Do consider, the pride march is very busy and loud - this may not be suitable for all children, however you can come-and-go along the route if you need!

  • Can I bring pets to the Pride march?

    Yes, well-behaved pets on leashes are welcome to join the Pride march. Please ensure your pets are comfortable in large crowds and remember to clean up after them. If your pet is anxious in noisy or crowded environments, it might be best to leave them at home.

  • What should I bring to the Pride march?

    We recommend bringing water, sunscreen, comfortable shoes, and anything you might need to stay comfortable during the march. Feel free to bring flags, signs, and banners to show your support! Don’t forget your excitement and positive energy!

  • Are there any prohibited items at the Pride march?

    For safety reasons, please do not bring any weapons, illegal substances, glass containers, or items that could be considered dangerous. We also ask that you refrain from bringing amplified sound systems, as there will be organised entertainment and music along the route.

  • How long does the march take?

    The Pride March route is approximatly 30-45 minutes in length at March Pace.


    The route is ~1.5km in length, which at normal walking pace would take 10-15 minutes.

  • What safety measures are in place for the Pride march?

    Your safety is our top priority. We will have a visible security presence, first aid available along the route, and stewards to guide and assist you. In case of an emergency, please approach any event staff or security personnel for help. We encourage all participants to look out for each other and report any concerns immediately.


  • What should I do if I feel unsafe or need assistance during the march?

    If you feel unsafe or require assistance at any point during the march, please approach a steward or security personnel. They are there to help and ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable experience.

  • What is the code of conduct for the Pride march?

    We ask all participants to respect one another and celebrate in a spirit of inclusion and positivity. Any form of hate speech, discrimination, or harassment will not be tolerated. Please be mindful of your surroundings, keep the route clean, and follow the instructions of event staff.

  • Will the Pride march take place on main roads?

    Yes, the Pride march will take place on main roads, and there will be temporary road closures along the route to ensure everyone's safety. These closures will be managed with local authorities to minimise disruption. 

  • What should I do if there is a protest or counter-demonstration?

    If you encounter a protest or counter-demonstration, we ask that you do not engage with them. Our stewards and security will manage the situation. Please continue with the march peacefully and follow any instructions from event staff to ensure your safety.
