Pride in Cheltenham Event Details

🐾 The 2025 Pride in Cheltenham Dog Show 🐾

The Pride Dog Show takes place in the middle of Pride with 7 classes up for grabs. Entry is £5 per dog/per class, and registration is on the day at the Pride Info & Merch tent. More information on entry and prizes to be announced.


Classes:

  • Fabulous and Fluffy 
    Showcase the fluffiest, most fabulous fur! Long-haired or short-haired, it's all about volume and style. 
  • Twinsies Tails 
    For owners and dogs dressed to match. From rainbow accessories to full-on outfits, this category celebrates twinning with your best friend. 
  • Proudest Pup Personality
    Highlight the dog with the most personality and energy, whether through wagging tails, playful jumps, or cheerful barks. 
  • Best Pawformance
    A talent show for tricks, obedience, or just general adorableness. Let the dogs show off their unique skills and charm! 
  • Golden Oldies
    Celebrate senior dogs who bring wisdom and charm to the show. 
  • Rescue Royalty 
    Shine a spotlight on adopted or rescued dogs, honouring their stories and their fabulous new lives.

Join the Pride in Cheltenham march as our community stands up to show their voice. This march is much more than a celebration; it's a powerful statement of visibility for our community and our chance to ensure everyone understands the struggles we face and to call to our allies to join us.

Part of a community group or organisation that wants to join the Pride in Cheltenham march? Fantastic! We ask all groups to register using the form below to help us organise the procession.

There is no fee for individuals or community groups to join the march; we ask for a token contribution if you join as a corporate group to help support the cost of delivering pride.

Pride in Cheltenham is hosted in Imperial Gardens, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, GL50 1QA


Bus (Stagecoach)
Stagecoach Bus Routes to Cheltenham Town Centre will take you only a 10-minute walk from Imperial Gardens. The "Cheltenham, Imperial Square" bus stop is right by the park for a closer stop.


Car

No private parking is provided at the event site. There is limited paid on-street car parking in the surrounding area; however, these are normally very busy, so we advise parking in the multi-story carparks in the town centre and walking to the park.

There is a Voi parking spot at the south of the park.

  • What is Pride in Cheltenham?

    Pride in Cheltenham is an annual event celebrating the LGBTQ+ community and its allies. It's a day of unity, acceptance, and joy, featuring a pride march, live music, speeches, stalls, food & drink and more, aimed at supporting equality and diversity in our community.

  • When and where will Pride in Cheltenham take place?

    The event is scheduled for Saturday 17th May 2025, from 12:00 to 18:00. It will be held at Imperial Gardens, Cheltenham

  • Is there an entry fee?

    No, Pride in Cheltenham is free to attend! We believe in making our celebration accessible to everyone. However, donations are welcome and greatly appreciated, as they help us to continue this tradition.

  • What should I bring to the event?

    We recommend bringing sunscreen, a water bottle, comfortable footwear, and your pride flags or attire to show your support! Don't forget to check the weather forecast and prepare accordingly.

  • Are there any age restrictions for attendees?

    Pride in Cheltenham is open to people of all ages. There will be activities suitable for children as well as adults.

  • Will there be food and drinks available?

    Yes, there will be a variety of food and drink vendors offering delicious options, including vegan and gluten-free choices. Feel free to bring your own snacks, but please remember to leave no trace and dispose of your rubbish responsibly.

  • What measures are being taken to ensure safety and security?

    The safety of our attendees is our top priority. There will be security personnel and a first aid station on site. We are also working closely with Cheltenham Borough Council & Local Authorities to ensure a safe environment for everyone.

  • Can I volunteer at the event?

    Absolutely! We're always looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help make Pride in Cheltenham a success. Please take a look at Volunteering for more information.

  • Are pets allowed?

    Yes, pets are welcome but must always be kept on a leash. Please consider whether your pet is comfortable in large crowds and loud environments.


    We will also return with our annual Dog Show, so we expect many dogs to be on-site.

  • Can I bring signs or banners to the event?

    Yes, you are encouraged to bring signs and banners to show your support and express yourself. However, we ask that all messages are respectful and supportive of the LGBTQ+ community. Hate speech or offensive material will not be tolerated.

  • Is there a dress code for the event?

    There is no dress code for Pride in Cheltenham (other than minimum swimwear coverage)— feel free to express yourself in any way you feel comfortable! 


    Many attendees choose to wear pride colours or costumes, but this is entirely optional.

  • What happens in case of bad weather?

    Pride in Cheltenham will take place rain or shine! In the case of severe weather, we may adjust the schedule for safety. Please check our website or social media for real-time updates.

  • Is photography or video recording allowed during the event?

    Yes, attendees are welcome to take photos and record videos to capture the memories of Pride in Cheltenham. We encourage you to share your experiences on social media! However, please respect others' privacy and ask for consent before taking close-up shots of individuals or small groups.


    Please note we will be taking photographs and capturing video throughout the event.

  • Can I bring my own food and drinks to the event?

    Yes, you're welcome to bring your own food and non-alcoholic drinks. However, glass containers are not allowed for safety reasons. We also encourage you to support our food vendors, who offer a wide range of options.

  • What types of accessible toilet facilities are available at the event?

    Pride March

    The forming point is outside John Lewis and Partners - several public toilets are in the surrounding area.


    Pride Event

    We provide a range of accessible toilet facilities to ensure comfort and convenience for all attendees. This includes accessible portable toilets, baby changing facilities, and a staffed Changing Places ReviLoo, which is equipped to meet the needs of people who require additional assistance.

  • Will there be sign language interpretation at the event?

    We are expecting to  be able to provide BSL at Pride in Cheltenham.

  • How accessible is the park & march for attendees with mobility needs?

    Pride March

    The pride march occurs along the High Street, Pedestrianised Areas, and paved roads. The surface is suitable for wheelchairs, although it may be a little bumpy due to the paved areas. We have had many wheelchair users join us along the route in past years with no problems!


    Pride Event

    The entire park is accessible - taking advantage of the installed hardstanding pathways and ramped access to all areas.

  • What facilities are available for attendees who may get overwhelmed by noise and crowds?

    Recognising the diverse needs of our community, we have created a sensory zone designed to provide a quieter, more comfortable space for those who may find the event overwhelming. This zone is equipped with ear defenders and fidget toys to help manage sensory input.


    The event is in an open park; visitors can leave and return later!

  • Will there be places to sit and rest around the park?

    Yes, the park has plenty of benches and places to sit. You are also welcome to bring your own camping chairs with you.

  • Are assistance animals welcome at the event?

    We wholeheartedly welcome assistance animals at Pride in Cheltenham and all Pride in Gloucestershire events. We recognise their essential role for many individuals and ensure they are accommodated so everyone can enjoy the event.
