As the calendar turns to December, a significant day awaits us – World AIDS Day. A day that not only serves as a solemn remembrance of the millions affected by HIV/AIDS but also as a beacon of hope and unity in our ongoing fight against the epidemic.
This year, we invite you to join us for a special evening in Gloucester Park as we gather around the Tree of Life, sharing stories, lighting candles, and symbolically wrapping the tree in ribbons to remember those we've lost and to show our unwavering support for those living with HIV/AIDS.
Date: Friday, 1st December 2023
Location: Tree of Life/Bandstand, Gloucester Park
Schedule:
The Tree of Life symbolizes growth, strength, and a connection to all of life, making it the perfect centerpiece for our event. As we wrap its branches with ribbons and light candles around its base, we pay tribute to the countless souls affected by HIV/AIDS and pledge to keep their memories alive.
Every individual's journey with HIV/AIDS is unique. Whether it's a personal experience, the story of a loved one, or a message of hope, we encourage attendees to share their narratives. If you'd like to say a few words during the event, please feel free to step forward. Alternatively, if you prefer to share your story in advance, you can send it to matthew@prideinglos.org.uk. Your voice can be a source of strength and inspiration for many.
Attendees are welcome to bring their own candles to light in remembrance. As the flames flicker, they'll symbolize the enduring spirit of those affected and the warmth of a community united in purpose.
This is more than just an annual observance. It's an affirmation that, together, we can overcome the challenges posed by HIV/AIDS. It's an acknowledgment of the progress made, the lives lost, and the work that still lies ahead.
We hope to see you there, standing shoulder to shoulder in remembrance, solidarity, and hope.
